New to sim leagues is "Prospect Send Downs."
As you know, if a player that is 18 or 19 is cut from the team, they are sent to their junior teams and can not join their NHL organization until the next season. This works in a similar way, if you send down a player, their salary will not count against your cap hit, and they will receive upgrades the next offseason, BUT they cannot join your team at any point in the season.
If you decide you want to keep a prospect on your team, their salary will count against your cap (even if they aren't in your lineup!)
I reccomend giving them 10 games or so to see how they perform in the NHL. Remember, if a player does very well in the lineup, they will receive a hefty upgrade in the offseason, however, if they play poorly (or not in the lineup at all) they may not receive any upgrade.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. So basically any players 18 or 19 will be auto upgraded whether they are up or down? But if they are up and are regular scratches or play like shit their upgrade will be weak? And if they go down they will get the most possible? I'm trying to figure out if Hirschier is better off in the minors or if I should play him. At an 82 I doubt he will be an impact player in the NHL. Help me decide!!! lol

It's simple, if you send a guy down, he won't be part of your cap hit, but you also can't play him for the entire season, but he will be guarenteed an upgrade (on average +2-+3)
If you keep a guy up, he's NOT guarenteed an upgrade, and his upgrade is based on his performance. However, if he performs well, he will get a bigger upgrade then if he just stayed in the minors.
It's a risk thing.
I guy like Herschier, who is an 82, doesn't really have anything else he can learn in Juniors, seeing as I stated somewhere that an 80 OA player is a roster player. Herchier would only receive +1, as he's not being utilized.
